19th Century Rosewood Writing Slope

A quality rosewood veneered gentlemen’s writing slope dating from the 19^th Century (1850-1890) surrounded with brass edging, and featuring brass side carry handles, a decorative cartouche on the lid and further decorative brass inlay on the top and front surfaces. Sturdy brass hinges open to reveal the interior including a removable pen tray and four small open compartments with a gilt tooled red leather slope below which is the hidden mechanism that reveals three evenly distributed drawers within the void.

In exceptionally good, original condition throughout, however, please see the photo which shows a natural age-related split caused by the veneer drying out.
