Poole Pottery – Delphis Range
The Poole Delphis Range evolved during the 1960s from the Delphis Studio ware with the collaboration of Robert Jefferson, Guy Sydenham and Tony Morris. These later pieces proved to be a very successful range and Poole paintresses (or decorators) were encouraged to develop their own individual designs and, as the items were all hand-painted, each piece will be unique.
Although still some way to go before achieving the high prices paid for some Art Deco items, we consider the geometric and abstract designs on the Poole Delphis range to epitomise the exuberant use of vibrant colours during the 1960s/70s and, in particular, the larger pieces as being extremely collectible and creating excellent focal points when placed amongst a background of modernist, mid-20th century furniture.
