1959 Danish Teak Coffee Table designed by Jorgen Baekmark
Perhaps more widely known today for his dining chair designs, this 1959 Danish teak coffee table standing proudly square with a strong central stretcher supporting the undershelf, was designed by Jorgen Baekmark whilst head of the design studio for FDB Mobler and which bears the brand mark and date - FDB Mobler Made in Denmark 59 10 1.
A robust table still in excellent condition, echoing the clean and uncluttered lines of the Bauhaus movement – particularly suitable for positioning as a corner table or between seating.

About the designer
Jorgen Baekmark (1919 - [some instances note: b.1929 - still surviving]
Having trained as a cabinet-maker and before successfully establishing his own design studio in 1967, Jorgen Baekmark was head of design for FDB Mobler from 1955–1967 following in the footsteps of his illustrious predecessors; Paul M Volther during 1950-1955 and, immediately prior to that, Borge Mogensen during 1942-1950.
FDB Mobler was a very large cooperative introducing mass production techniques in the early 1940s to make affordable furniture by many prominent designers of the day, such as Borge Mogensen, Hans. J. Wegner, et al.
