Coconut Chair by George Nelson for Herman Miller
An iconic piece designed in 1955 by George Nelson for Herman Miller. The Coconut Chair, so called as it resembles a section of a coconut especially with the shaped back in white painted steel. This example was produced during the 1960s and should not be confused with the 1980s reintroduced Vitra model which has a white reinforced fibreglass shell.
Raised on a tripod arrangement of 3 chrome plated legs braced with one continuous piece of metal and the chrome plating is still in very good condition whilst the seat has a superb quality, tan coloured, leather.
This original Coconut chair is in excellent condition and represents a true design statement able to blend with any contemporary setting.
