Artifort F978 lounge chairs designed by Geoffrey Harcourt

A matched set of four Artifort F978, swivelling lounge chairs designed in 1968 by award winning Geoffrey D. Harcourt (b.1935-).

This design, with the distinctive polyurethane shell, proved so successful for both appearance and exceptional comfort that it was reintroduced by Artifort in 2006 with a slightly modified disc base and tube in polished aluminium. 

These four chairs in the original design are available with the fixed pad upholstery in varying bright shades of red through to mauve. The white polyurethane shells have hardly any signs of wear other than very minor scuffs, and some scratches on the polished aluminium bases consistent with age and use which could be polished out.  

Overall these vintage chairs are very comfortable, clean and in extremely good, original condition. The chair with a mauve and black striped material does have a little wear to the striped seat which does not affect the comfort but is priced accordingly.

About the designer:

After a very successful and multi award-winning career (which included being awarded the title of "Royal Designer for Industry" in 1978) Geoffrey Harcourt, RDI DesRCA, retired as a furniture designer to focus on his passion for painting.
