A Fine Ladye sideboard dating from the early 1960s, designed by Richard Hornby and constructed entirely in afromosia (dark teak) which is a very heavy and durable hard wood. Later versions of the sideboard were made in teak veneer.
With an attractive, lipped surround, to the top surface, the front edges and echoed along the base of the sideboard. Raised on stretchered and turned wooden legs, and comprising a double-door cupboard (with a recessed opening slot) divided into two sections housing three adjustable shelves and above the right-hand section is the original slide-out tray with a melamine surface for serving drinks. There are also four generous drawers (the top one has the lined cutlery sections) and all have full-width, reeded fronts disguising the discreetly bevelled draw-pulls.
The sideboard has retained the original, beautiful finish and has very minor signs of use.
