Late 1950s Russell of Broadway Walnut Sideboard  SOLD

A late 1950s compact walnut sideboard, bearing the Russell of Broadway (Cotswolds) brand, having a very attractively chamfered edge to the top surface over a set of three central drawers with rounded handles (one including a cutlery divider having slightly worn brown baize lining) flanked by cupboards - one with an internal shelf.  Raised on sturdy square legs the unit was originally sold by Hopewells, Nottingham, suppliers of quality furniture since 1885, contemporaneous with Sir Gordon Russell (1892-1980) himself and the evolution of craftsmanship and design in British furniture.

The sideboard is in good, unrestored condition and wear is commensurate with age and careful use.
