Set of 6 – MR Cantilever Chairs - Black Leather 

A set of six cantilever MR chairs designed in 1927 by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1866-1969). Suitable for use as dining, office / meeting, or even as occasional living room chairs, being made from polished tubular steel forming the cantilever frame with very robust and excellent quality black saddle leather.  Whilst these chairs are unattributed, they have adjustable steel tensioning rods to tighten the leather and certainly mirror the early stitched hide version made by Thonet and possibly date from the late 1960s. (They differ from those reproduced by Knoll since the 1970s where the leather is laced).

With curving cantilever frames, the plentiful dimensions of these chairs provide elegant comfort. They are in exceptional vintage condition and continue to be a design classic in the clean modernist style that has enduring appeal.
