DC 31 - Six Marcel Breuer -  Cesca Chairs in light beech

Six Marcel Breuer - Cesca Chairs in light beech  - SOLD

A matched set of six cantilever Cesca chairs designed by Marcel Breuer in 1928, during his time at the Bauhaus, and called the ‘Cesca’ chair after his daughter, Francesca. Known for their flexibility and comfortable seating position, these chairs continue to be very popular and justifiably considered a stylish timeless classic.

Made in Italy, this vintage set are a rare find in very good condition having only minimal signs of use on the chromed tubular steel frames and light beech surrounds. One chair has very minor damage to the cane seat and is still useable but due to more broken cane-work on the back section it has been priced accordingly – both areas are shown on the photos.

Item Reference No. DC 31.

Price:  - SOLD

This set of chairs are similar in colour to some of the Danish dining tables currently available at Retrovia

Marcel Breuer 1928

Designed in 1928, Marcel Breuer’s Cesca chair married traditional craftsmanship with industrial methods and materials to help make tubular steel furniture an international sensation and a modern institution. The cantilevered form exploits the possibilities unique to the material and gives the chair added flexibility and comfort. Offered in arm and armless versions with a fully upholstered seat and back, or with hand-woven cane inserts.
